The Environment

The Great Tarapacá Salt Flat, located in northern Chile, boasts unique characteristics: its vast salt reserves, an isolated location, proximity to the coast, high levels of purity, and the absence of microscopic life (salt that is free of organic compounds).

Unlike other methods of salt production, the unique characteristics of the Great Tarapacá Salt Flat provide K+S Chile with environmentally safe and controlled operations.

Additionally, K+S Chile acts responsibly and takes care of the marine environment where it conducts its shipping operations, supported by its highly efficient bulk port with a haulage capacity of 25,000 tons per day. A beautiful colony of sea lions that lives on a small island very close to the bulk dock is proudly protected by K+S Chile.
